Do Dates Need To Be Organic

This weekend was another market day at the Irvine Farmer’s Market and, like every other week, Davall’s new crop of dates were ready. Davall, along with many other local date growers who sell to California markets, grow their dates organically with little to no processing. When you buy dates from these people, they are often sold on the day they were picked (sun-dried on the tree, picked, packed, and sold that day). There is no other fruit that compares to a fresh date ripened on a tree. They are amazing.

7 ways to enjoy organic dates

Organic dates are more than just a satisfying snack. Naturally sweet and nutrient-dense, these stone fruits make a great sugar substitute for smoothies and baked goods. Organic dates can also be used to prepare a unique snack. You can even be a little daring and add dates to a pizza!

Best of all, this remarkable fruit offers countless health benefits and is a safe addition to many weight loss and therapeutic diets.

Manufacturing process

Every year, from late August to mid-October, our California Medjool dates must be harvested. If date palms are properly watered, thinned, and fertilized, they will produce approximately 200 to 250 pounds of Medjool dates. The trees may hold 500 to 600 pounds of dates, but the dates would be small and of lower quality.

All our date palms come from ramifications, that is, trees that grow next to the mother tree. We plant the saplings of 100 female trees next to one male tree so they can be easily fertilized. When we plant our saplings, we plant 67 trees per acre so they have plenty of room to grow and grow to their largest, most flavorful size.

What are Medjool dates?

There are more than 1,500 different varieties of dates grown around the world: they grow in warm climates like California, Arizona, Florida, and the Middle East. Medjool dates are one of the most popular, known for their large size, smooth texture, and rich flavor.

Medjool dates are FRESH FRUITS. Most people think of dates as nuts because they think of the dates you buy in the bakery aisle. Medjool dates are actually harvested from the date palm, immediately cleaned, graded and packed. There is no treatment and they never dry out physically or chemically. That’s why you’ll find them in the produce section of the grocery store.

The benefits of organic dates

Should dates be organic? In the few places where the medjool date is grown, it is wrapped in protective foil to keep insects out and prevent it from getting soaked in the rain. When it comes to medjool and other dates, organic means no pesticides are used. Pesticides are rarely used on date farms. What are the benefits of organic dates and the plants they grow? Medjool dates are also an excellent source of phytonutrients, plant compounds that benefit health. They have been shown to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, prevent DNA damage, and regulate hormones, among other things. What makes a date organic? Dates made with organic ingredients are non-GMO. If so, your DNA is not altered. What is the healthiest type of date? Medjool dates are rich in antioxidants and nutrients that may reduce the risk of heart disease, aid digestion, and support heart health, among other things.

Sweet fruits, in addition to being nutritious, are excellent snacks because they are rich in nutrients. Dates, with their organic and all-natural flavor, are rich in vitamins and minerals and can be incorporated into healthy recipes.
